Beautiful Birth

I am tired this morning! But the mama and daddy I was with last night, I am sure, are more tired than I! (grin)

I pulled in the drive at about 5 this morning after a beautiful labor and birth. Mama is doing wonderfully, albeit sore. Baby is doing beautifully and IS beautiful. And daddy was so attentive and sweet throughout all, a true birth companion!

Baby is a nice size, and gave mom one of the biggest cases of shoulder dystocia that I have ever seen! But oh, the birth team was amazing! Doc was so accommodating, encouraging lots of positions, explaining all very well, NEVER PULLING on babe - even throughout the SD. The Rubin technique (suprapubic pressure) and McRoberts maneuver were some of the most aggressive I could imagine, but they were very VERY conscious of not exhuding panic and were careful to avoid any mama/baby trauma.

The nurses were the best I had ever seen, positive, peaceful, encouraging, never even GLANCED at the birth plan, but did everything a doula would train them to do to support a mom wanting a natural birth - and no one had to say a word. Marvelous!

Ok - thoughts disjointed, tired, too much already - I want to wait until I am ready to lay the whole story down. I am going to lie down. Good Monday all!

You are #1 in my book... from all I have heard about this birth, you were HIGHLY praised. It may be a few years, but I will definately be calling on you...

Grandma aka Nana is giving praises to God for your assistance in making the birth of this grandchild (and the one in Michigan by proxy)the best it could be for baby, Mom, and Dad and also for the wonderfully perfect birth team he sent. I love it when He's in control - oh, I guess that's all the time. :)
