A Very Unusual Hospital Birth

Now, if only more hospitals could get on board. :)

    It is very sad that in the US this is so unusual... it's certainly not a majority thing over here in the UK but it is becoming increasingly popular and encouraged.

  2. Oh - that looks lovely! The hypnobirthing videos they show us in the class I'm taking look a lot like this. I'm thinking I should talk to my doctor about a big blue tub! The hot tub I used last time was wonderful, but I sure hated getting out of it. It'd be so nice to just labor uninterrupted like that, and then just have the baby right there in the water.

    Great video, but it's a little too wide, so the right-hand side gets cut off. You can change that by editing the post, choose "Edit html" and instead of the current width & height, insert

    width="420" height="255"

    and that will keep the correct h/w ratio and will allow it all to be seen from within your blog.

  5. That was awesome. I wish that all hospitals could do this. She has her baby exactly how she wants to but has the comfort of the medical staff there afterwards. Awesome!

  7. That is amazing. It looks like a homebirth! If the hospitals in my area would do this, I would probably choose hospital birth. Wow.

    sadly this is VERY unusually for this (my) hospital too... a first but hopefully not the last... a lot is to be said of the care provider as she is one of the main reasons the birth went the way it did but that's what you get from a homebirth midwife!! :-) so glad things worked out for Sarah and her family despite her need to birth in the hospital this time...

  10. I was just introduced to you blog. I have enjoyed looking around a lot! This post was incredible!! If I could have this kind of natural childbirth in a hospital I would do it in a heartbeat! I am not an advocate for homebirth (don't hate me!) but this would be a wonderful option for someone like myself who would like to try a natural birth in the 'safety' of a hospital. (safety meaning my personal comfort)
